Early single review: Home - Evy Frearson

A trully heartfelt song, with a beautiful melody, complimented by the finger picking chords in a dreamy tempo.

Who doesn’t love a heartbreak song. OK, you don’t like the heartbreak of course, but you do like the heartbreak song. Evy Frearson has got you covered with her new single, which captures true emotions at the stage of recovering from a heartbreak. The song is about trying to move on from seeing your dreams collapse, by spending time with your family. Home will be released on Friday 20th September 2024. It’s the 3rd single Evy is releasing this year, following Tonight And Pull Down.

Here's a little preview of the track:

In June this year, Evy came up with the phrase “Any beautiful vision”, which got her into songwriting mode. It looks like the phrase, came complete with its melody and Evy immediately started building on that initial inspiration. She completed the song while she still was in that mindset. That makes the song real, authentic and straight from the heart.

She played the song live at On The Meadow Festival in August. First, she talked about the meaning of the song.

Home is a truly heartfelt song, with a beautiful melody complimented by the finger picking chords, in the usual dreamy tempo we expect from Evy. From the sweet memories and the dreams for the future in the verse, to the stage of recovering around the family in the chorus. Then getting slightly bitter, which is a natural element of the usual cycle in such situations. In the end, she moves to the stage of accepting the situation and coming to terms with it. It's a song that many people can relate to. A familiar process, captured in a relaxed melodic song, smoothly leading you to stop thinking about the past and getting ready to move on. The element of story-telling is prominent. Evy takes you on a journey in a perfectly structured story, while the sound is just right for the meaning of the song and the finger picking chord progression is brilliant. If you find yourself in a situation of needing to recover from a heartbreak, just listen to this song. It's for the best.
