Alex Spencer: What the future becomes

Gig review: Alex Spencer's gig at The Grace which turned out to be a headliner.

 Alex Spencer at The Grace

Just a few weeks after selling out his debut UK headline tour which included a show in London, Alex Spencer was back in the capital to play at The Grace. He wasn’t meant to headline the show. He was going to be the middle act, but the Headliner pulled out of the gig, just hours before doors time, so Alex was upgraded to Headliner. That meant a longer set, accommodating more catchy high-energy tunes.

He started with Love And Let Go, which immediately set the mood and got the crowd going.

Do What I Wanna

Do What I Wanna was once again another crowd lifting tune and Alex made sure he got the fans involved.

New single: Clouded Thinking

His new single was a tiny bit faster and sounded a bit more rocky, with the sound of his electric guitar, which is great. Clouded Thinking was released just 5 days before the gig, but the fans knew every word. The song, which has already been playing on ArtsyMix Radio, is really catchy and has everything it takes to be a hit.

Nightmares reached half a million streams

Before the set, Alex checked the stats for Nightmares, the song that features in the soundtrack of EA FC 25 (FIFA). It reached half a million streams, probably shortly before the gig. His fans seemed to even know the Spanish part of the lyrics.

Conclusion

Alex Spencer delivered a highly entertaining, feel-good set, got the fans to engage and filled everyone with positive energy. He never dropped the positive energy levels throughout the set. The only thing he dropped was the guitar pick. In fact, he did that a couple of times.
He had the idea to finish the set with a short cover of Insomnia (yes, that one), just to add a bit more fun. Oh, and he did a back flip too.

A set that included Nightmares and Insomnia, turned out to be an absolute dream. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed an extended set, full of good vibes. After the show, he had time for everyone, signing, posing for pictures, chatting.

He started playing music to people, when he was about 12-13. At the age of 18 now, he’s already very experienced, very skilled, charismatic and confident on stage. Alex Spencer seems to have great potential and it’s clear he’s making further big steps this year. He has already completed a UK tour, he has reached half a million streams on one song, he has his catchy new single Clouded Thinking and he’s releasing an EP in two weeks.

Here’s to the rise of the young. He’s what the future becomes.

Bonus: Insomnia. And a back flip

Upcoming EP

On the day of the London gig, he announced that he’s releasing the an EP with 5 tracks, on Friday the 13th of June. Where Do We Go From Here is the title track.

The tracks in order:

1. Clouded Thinking
2. Where Do We Go From Here?
3. Pessimistic Nobody
4. Bucket List
5. Wake Me Up

He played 3 of those tracks at The Grace. Wake Me Up was going to be in, but he made a last-minute change, replacing it with Fear Will Kill The Future.
