Pre-release review: So Last Season - Grace Calver
A new song by Grace Calver is always a breath of fresh air. You can always rely on her to come up with cool original lyrics. “She doesn’t want you, just get over yourself”, “I’m cool cos I listen to Weezer”, adding to the collection of brilliant lines.
The 21-year-old singer-songwriter, is releasing a new single, titled So Last Season, on Friday 25/4. And, of course, it’s about her struggles with her love life, which seems to be an endless source of inspiration. This time, it’s about the threat of the ex that will not just go away. The song is structured to tell a story, setting the scene at the beginning and then escalating the drama, with the insecurity not going away. And by the way, the thing about social media is still there too.
It’s almost like a sequel to Social Media Generation, when the ex’s were coming up on suggestions. This time, the ex reacts to the stories. Sounds like someone is checking the messages then.
It also looks like Grace has created a whole branding around the new song, in deep blue (the colours of her football team, Ipswitch Town?) and a cake that seems to be a reaction to the birthday party of the... unwanted person.
When the song is released, it will appear in the widget below.
Grace Calver has a few exciting gigs coming up. She has supported some great musicians including the Lottery Winners, The Farm, Tom A. Smith, Apollo Junction. On the 4th of May, she’s supporting T’Pau!
